Responding to Hurricane Fiona

by International Medical Corps

Hurricane Fiona has slammed into the island of Puerto Rico, causing widespread blackouts and catastrophic flooding.

The storm's arrival comes five years after Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated Puerto Rico, leaving communities across the island without electricity, some for months after the storms passed.

International Medical Corps is mobilizing resources and responding in the wake of the storm. Our teams are distributing critical relief items, such as household hygiene kits, providing psychological first aid (PFA) and offering nutrition-related counseling, complemented by the distribution of food vouchers. In addition, we are planning to provide long-term mental health and psychosocial support in close collaboration with local partners and health facilities.

*Note for recurring donations: Once we have determined that the community can continue to respond to the after-effects of this emergency without us, we will scale back our response efforts. At that time, we will redirect your future donations where they are needed most, to help us respond to future outbreaks of conflict, disease or disaster.
