Thank you for your support in 2025!

by INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS

Dear donors,
This year has witnessed profound upheaval, with multiple violent conflicts taking a devastating toll on humanity. In times of war, the ICRC provides lifesaving support, ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance. Our teams supply essentials like food, clean water, monetary aid, shelter, and healthcare, assist detainees, reunite families, and address other grave issues. We also build sustainable systems, enabling communities to operate independently without continued reliance on external aid.

Sudan: The Sudan conflict is one often qualified as “one of the world largest displacement crises”. The ICRC has been operating there since 1978 to address the consequences in the armed conflict, but these past two years, there has been alarming trends of obstruction of emergency healthcare, repeated attacks on hospitals and widespread sexual violence. The 66% increase in the number of people searching for missing loved ones paints a grim picture of the hardships endured by Sudanese civilians. The ICRC responded to emergencies and immediate humanitarian needs, helping communities become more resilient. Over 2 million people gained access to clean water through our programs. We provided food to hospital patients in West and West Darfur, and the Central States. Additionally, 379,000 people received multipurpose cash grants for agriculture and tools.

Ukraine: Over three years of conflict with Russia have taken a heavy toll. In 2024, the ICRC helped 227,522 people improve their living conditions and survive the harsh winter by providing hygiene supplies and other essentials. We supported 29 primary healthcare facilities and 87 hospitals near front lines with medicines and medical equipment.
Empowering Recovery and Reintegration in Kharkiv, Ukraine, we have launched a physical rehabilitation program to support individuals who have lost limbs due to war. This initiative goes beyond medical recovery—it helps participants regain their physical abilities and reclaim their independence through career advancement training, fostering both social inclusion and long-term stability. By equipping individuals with the tools to rebuild their lives, we are ensuring that recovery extends far beyond physical healing.

Israel and the occupied territories: A year ago, the ICRC, alongside Red Cross National Societies, established the Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah—an initiative originally designed as a temporary response, yet it continues to operate today, sustained by the commitment of 14 Movement partners, including the Red Cross Societies of Australia, Austria, Canada, China (Hong Kong branch), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Together, this collective Movement effort has achieved:

• 80,240 patients treated

• 408 newborns safely delivered

• 3,404 life-saving surgical operations conducted

At the beginning of June, the Red Cross Field Hospital with a capacity of 60-beds, received 179 people - many of them women and children - arriving with severe gunshot and shrapnel wounds. Sadly, 21 lost their lives even before we could help them. Our hospital, already stretched beyond its limits, but our staff remains dedicated to delivering crucial aid and protection.

Your compassion and generosity are the driving force behind our efforts.

Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable support.
