Kentucky Tornadoes | Children's Emergency Fund

de SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION INC

On May 16th, a devastating tornado outbreak struck Kentucky, taking lives and leaving nearly 50 miles of destruction in its wake. Families with children are among the most severely affected by this disaster, facing displacement, trauma and urgent needs for shelter, food, healthcare, as well as psychosocial support.

Save the Children is working to provide critical supplies and support to help those hardest hit by the powerful storm.

In coordination with state and local partners, Save the Children is:

• Helping ensure essential, child-focused supplies get into the hands of children and families who need them most in Laurel and Pulaski Counties, including hygiene kits, diapers and wipes, as well as cash assistance to support families’ most urgent needs.
• Assessing the impacts on local child care centers, standing ready to help restore child care and early learning centers damaged by the storm.
• Providing psychosocial support to aid long-term recovery efforts by supporting the mental health needs of children and caregivers.

Help now by supporting our Children’s Emergency Fund, which allows us to effectively prepare, respond quickly and support children's recovery in disasters in the U.S. and around the world, like the tornadoes in Kentucky.
