Giving Tuesday: Disasters Don’t Take Holidays.
While many of us view the holidays as a time to pause, disasters don’t take time off - and neither does Direct Relief.
This Giving Tuesday, you can help deliver emergency medical aid to communities across the U.S. impacted by wildfires, hurricanes, flooding, and other emergencies. Direct Relief works to get medicines and supplies where they are needed most - often in the first hours after disaster strikes.
By giving through this page, you’re helping communities prepare, respond, and rebuild - even when emergencies hit during the most vulnerable time of year.
Why Direct Relief?
Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization that responds to emergencies in all 50 U.S. states and around the world. With a focus on supporting health providers that serve historically underserved populations, Direct Relief works to ensure that care is available when and where it’s needed most - without regard to politics, religion, or ability to pay.
When emergencies happen, your support helps provide:
• Rapid delivery of emergency medical aid
• Support for healthcare workers and first responders doing critical work on the ground
• Investments in long-term preparedness and infrastructure for future emergencies
Direct Relief was recognized by Forbes as “one of the most respected organizations in the disaster relief business” and was awarded the 2025 Seoul Peace Prize
Preparedness in Action
Pre-Positioned Hurricane Kits:
Direct Relief has built a nationwide Hurricane Preparedness Program to stage emergency medical kits in disaster-prone regions. Each kit contains enough medicine and supplies to treat 100 people for 72 hours. In 2025 alone, 83 kits are being deployed across high-risk areas in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and surrounding regions.
Wildfire & Flood Response:
From wildfires in California to flooding in Texas and the Gulf Coast, Direct Relief works closely with local health centers, clinics, and emergency managers to get resources where they’re needed most. After the L.A. wildfires, $12.7 million in aid was distributed to 65 community organizations providing trauma care, search and rescue, and school-based support.
Local Reach, National Scale:
Direct Relief supports nearly 5,000 healthcare facilities across the U.S., and approximately 70% of those are located in areas with a moderate-to-high FEMA Risk Index score
By working with trusted providers - from small rural clinics to large urban health centers - Direct Relief ensures that emergency support reaches people quickly and equitably.
Building Resilience for the Long Term:
Beyond immediate relief, Direct Relief helps communities strengthen their ability to withstand future disasters through:
• Backup solar power and refrigeration units for clinics
• Cold-chain systems for temperature-sensitive medications
• Grants and upgrades that keep clinics operational during blackouts and storms
