Armed conflicts continued to rise in 2025, with more than 130 active situations worldwide and a sharp increase in humanitarian needs. In many contexts, the rules of international humanitarian law were stretched, selectively applied, or ignored altogether. At the same time, global funding contracted, even as communities faced deeper and more complex crises. Against this backdrop, your support remained a steady source of hope and humanity.

Thanks to your partnership, the ICRC continued delivering protection and essential services in some of the world’s most challenging environments. From responding to large‑scale displacement and weapon‑related injuries to maintaining access to health care, water, and economic security, your support made it possible for our teams to stay close to communities living through conflict and violence.

Across contexts, this meant helping hospitals in the Democratic Republic of Congo treat thousands of war‑wounded patients; introducing innovative cash assistance approaches in Sudan to reach families despite banking disruptions; redeploying specialized surgical teams to Akobo Hospital in South Sudan; and continuing large‑scale humanitarian activities in Ukraine, including visits to prisoners of war and support for repatriations. It also meant providing emergency relief after the earthquake in Afghanistan, expanding access to water and health services in Syria, supporting people with disabilities in Yemen, and delivering critical medical assistance in southern Lebanon.

These efforts are part of a broader impact you helped make possible—from reconnecting families separated by conflict, to strengthening food production, supporting physical rehabilitation and mental health services, improving conditions in places of detention, and expanding access to clean water and sanitation for millions.
