Our work in Israel and the occupied territories
de INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSSThe ICRC has been present and operating in Israel and the Occupied Territories since 1967.
Following the recent ceasefire agreement in Israel and the occupied territories, the ICRC has played an important role in bringing hostages and detainees home As a neutral humanitarian intermediary, we continue to ensure their safe transfer, which requires rigorous security measures to minimize risks. Navigating large crowds and managing dangers like unexploded ordnance and destroyed infrastructure posed significant challenges during the transfers.
Maintaining our neutrality to focus on addressing humanitarian needs is vital. Over the coming weeks as the cease-fire agreement is implemented, the ICRC stands ready to scale up our response in close coordination with Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement partners.
These times highlight the importance of supporters like you who believe in our neutrality and the tangible humanitarian outcomes of our work.
You can make a difference - thank you for your support.
